Opening to Feedback
"...feedback connections are
fundamental not only to physiological health
and wholeness, but to health and wholeness at
all levels in nature. The connection of feedback
is fundamental to wholeness - be it energetic,
physical, emotional, mental, social, global..."
"When things are connected...and information
and energy circulate freely, any system has
the capacity to be healthy, remain whole, and
evolve."
--Gary Swartz, Ph.D.
What is your relationship with feedback from
others and the world at large? Are you open
to it? Do you see it as a criticism or attack?
Today, watch what happens with the feedback
you get:
- Notice if you have this attitude:
"I'll listen to feedback if it's given
to me politely or with the right tone of voice."
What if you were committed to receiving feedback
no matter what form it came in?
- Are you aware of feedback in
more subtle forms? That is, the car that pulls
out in front of you; dropping something; bumping
lightly into something. Or does it take more
intense feedback to get your attention, i.e.,
an accident, breaking something valuable,
or smashing your body into something?
- Overall, are you able to view
feedback as a simple reorienting mechanism,
versus an attack on you as an individual?
- What does your own feedback to
yourself sound like in your head? Is it loving
and supportive or mean and attacking? Are
you willing to shift the tone of that feedback?
